How the Architecture Works

Your traffic goes through the TOR network first, which hides your real address before you ever reach the VPN. Then it goes through OpenVPN, which encrypts it again.

Two consequences follow.

The VPN cannot see your real address. With an ordinary VPN, the provider knows who you are because you connected to them directly. Putting TOR in front means even they are looking at a TOR exit rather than you. That removes the need to trust the provider's logging policy, because they have nothing useful to log.

Every request takes a different path. Each one travels through a randomly chosen TOR circuit, so there is no consistent route to correlate across sessions.

Double encryption is the third piece: both layers apply their own, so a break in one does not expose the traffic.

Speed. TOR is slow by design, because it bounces your traffic through several relays run by volunteers, and adding a VPN on top does not make it faster.

This is not the tool for scraping, bulk collection or streaming. Anything throughput sensitive will be painful.

Who Might Look Elsewhere

Anyone doing scraping, automation or anything throughput sensitive should look at a conventional proxy provider. The performance here will not support that work and is not meant to.
